2027 LEXUS LX: THE FLAGSHIP LUXURY SUV GETS A NEW LEVEL OF LUXURY AND CAPABILITY

 Introduction

The Lexus LX has always occupied a special position in the Lexus lineup.

As the brand’s flagship luxury SUV, it combines premium comfort with the rugged engineering needed to travel far beyond paved roads. For 2027, Lexus continues that formula with a series of carefully targeted updates rather than a complete redesign.

The 2027 Lexus LX introduces darker-finish 20-inch wheels on the Premium grade, a standard digital rearview mirror on Premium, new standard red front and rear brake calipers on the F SPORT Handling grade, and a new Palomino interior option for F SPORT Handling. The F SPORT Handling and Overtrail grades also receive standard one-touch auto-arrange power-folding rear seats.

Underneath, the LX continues to use Lexus’ GA-F platform, while buyers can choose between the twin-turbocharged LX 600 and the electrified LX 700h. The LX 600 produces 409 horsepower, while the LX 700h produces 457 net combined horsepower. Both models can tow up to 8,000 pounds.

For 2027, Lexus is not trying to reinvent the LX. Instead, the brand is refining the details that matter—appearance, convenience, performance-focused equipment and cabin luxury—while preserving the flagship SUV’s distinctive combination of capability and sophistication.

The 2027 LX continues Lexus’ “Dignified Sophistication” design philosophy.

Its tall, substantial body and powerful proportions give it the commanding presence expected from a full-size luxury SUV, while the spindle grille, L-shaped lighting and muscular rear haunches maintain its unmistakable Lexus identity.

Front Grille and Headlights

The LX’s front end remains one of its strongest visual signatures.

The spindle grille features a three-dimensional arrangement of floating bars designed not only to create a distinctive appearance but also to support the cooling performance required by its twin-turbocharged powertrains.

The L-shaped clearance lamps and layered headlamp lenses give the front lighting a distinctive three-dimensional appearance, adding depth and character to the LX’s face.

The LX’s rear design continues the strong horizontal theme established across the front and sides.

The rear combination lamps feature an L-shaped design with a continuous visual flow that connects the vehicle’s front, shoulders and rear silhouette. A full-size spare tire remains standard across the lineup.

Black Interior

Inside, the LX continues to focus on luxury, comfort and usability.

The driver-focused cockpit places important controls and information within the driver's reach and forward sightline. Depending on grade, the LX also offers premium materials and available semi-aniline leather seating with multiple massage functions for the driver and front passenger.

The LX combines its traditional luxury character with modern technology.

The cabin provides a driver-focused arrangement with digital displays, a Head-Up Display and controls designed to remain accessible while driving.

The 2027 LX Premium also gains a standard digital rearview mirror, adding another useful piece of technology to the flagship SUV.

Rear Passenger Comfort

The lineup offers different seating configurations and luxury features depending on the grade. LX 600: Twin-Turbo V6 Power

The LX 600 continues with Lexus’ 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine.

It produces 409 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque, with power sent through a 10-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. The LX 600 can tow up to 8,000 pounds.

The engine is designed to deliver strong, consistent power both on the highway and when the LX is tackling demanding terrain.

LX 700h: Electrified Flagship Capability

For buyers looking for electrified performance, the LX 700h combines a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 with Lexus' hybrid system.

The system produces 457 net combined horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. Lexus estimates 20 mpg combined for the LX 700h.

The hybrid system is also engineered for off-road use. Lexus says the LX 700h can use motor-driven power in low-range situations requiring precise throttle control, including rocky paths, mud, dirt roads and deep snow.

Built for Serious Off-Road Capability

Luxury does not mean the LX has forgotten its rugged side.

The LX is built on the GA-F platform and features a double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. Active Height Control and Adaptive Variable Suspension are standard across the lineup.

A Torsen limited-slip center differential is also standard across the LX lineup, while the LX 700h Overtrail adds electronically controlled front and rear locking differentials for enhanced traction in challenging off-road conditions.

F SPORT Handling

For buyers who want a more performance-focused version of the flagship SUV, Lexus continues to offer the F SPORT Handling grade.

For 2027, it gains standard red front and rear brake calipers and a new Palomino interior option. The grade also features exclusive 22-inch forged aluminum wheels, an F-mesh spindle grille and performance-focused chassis tuning designed to deliver a more engaging driving experience.

One-Touch Power-Folding Rear Seats

Convenience also receives an upgrade for 2027.

One-touch auto-arrange power-folding rear seats are now standard on the F SPORT Handling and Overtrail grades, while the feature is available on the Premium grade with the Interior Upgrade package.

The system makes it easier to reconfigure the rear cabin, adding greater flexibility when carrying passengers or making room for additional cargo.

Safety and Driver Assistance

All 2027 Lexus LX models come standard with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, giving the flagship SUV a comprehensive suite of active safety and driver-assistance technologies.

The system includes Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, which is designed to detect certain vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists and provide audio and visual warnings. When system conditions are met, it can also provide automatic emergency braking.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 also includes All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Road Sign Assist, Intelligent High Beams and Proactive Driving Assist.
